HP still sells more inkjet all-in-ones than other company using a healthy margin, and it is careful to not disturb a winning formula. The Officejet 6600 is definitely an evolutionary product, applying tweaks for an already good specification, though still with a few surprising omissions from its feature set.

USB and wireless connections are supported, but much from the HP Officejet 6600’s print flexibility relies on the wireless link. The four individual ink cartridges slide and click into place easily, once you’ve folded through printer’s front panel. Software comprises HP’s own apps, including OCR, and many more can be found coming from the ePrint Center.

Setup, Speed, and Output Quality

Just like most inkjets during this price range, the HP Officejet 6600 is sufficiently small to talk about a desk with comfortably. Using the trays fully extended, it measures 9. 9 by 18. 3 by 21. 9 inches (HWD ), however the printer body is merely about 11 inches deep.

For my tests, I connected by USB cable and installed the drivers on the system running Windows Vista. Physical setup is typical for the inkjet. Software installation is just a little unusual, using the quick start guide sending you towards the printer front panel. When you finally choose USB like the connection type, however, the front panel lets you know that will put the driver disc with your computer. The remainder of the steps are standard fare.
